Our History

Lloyd and Alma Grandstaff established their funeral home in 1933 at the corner of Chippewa Road and Quincy Street in Roann. Together, for over 25 years, they provided area families with the highest quality service and care at a comfortable family-owned funeral establishment.

Their son Ken Grandstaff became the second generation to carry out the tradition of helping area families after graduating from mortuary school in 1961. In 1975, Ken and his wife, Kathie, were joined by Roann native, Steve Hentgen. During that same year, they expanded their commitment to funeral service by purchasing the Hoover-Miner Funeral Home from Jack Miner, which is the Main Street Chapel in Wabash.

In 1992 the partners purchased the Bender Chapel in North Manchester and the Garrett & Sloane Colonial Mortuary, which is recognized today as their Manchester Avenue Chapel. With locations in Roann, Wabash and North Manchester, Ken Grandstaff and Steve Hentgen are assisted by a caring, professional staff that have dedicated themselves to the ideals of the funeral profession.
